Ich bin in Munchen angekommon

I got to Germany ok.  I got a pay as you go sim card for my phone got some food and wandered around with  Darius and Dan till about 17:00 when I got to my room and crashed.  I woke up around 3am to drunken german girls doing the macarena outside my window cause there was a music festival going on this weekend.    Either way I managed to fall back asleep till 6am.  I then got up and about 9am got the bright idea to go for a 20km walk or so.  God my feet still hurt.  I also learned how little german I actually know.  I can sorta read menus and cover some basic things like asking directions but I’m pretty piss poor otherwise.  I of course panicked when the waitress said something really fast and just pulled…”i’m sorry I’m american and don’t really speak any german” but given that she was only 20 or so she spoke pretty much perfect english and was pretty nice. I apologized profusely and left a big tip.   On the walk back  my foot started to throb and I finally hopped on the subway as it started to rain. When I got back some pleasant girls tried to make me pay to get into the festival that was going on and given my desire to pee and sit down I pretty much freaked out in english that anyone would be trying to stop me from sitting and pissing at the place I ostensibly live. I just lock up cause that filter from english to german in my brain lags hard it seems and I don’t want to waste time trying to  babble in german incoherently.  Though I did manage to ask directions today on the way to the Deutschesmuseum since the other Dan led us the wrong direction.  Of course the guy I stopped to ask had double hearing aids.

New paragraph.  So now I’m sitting at the Garcin branch of TUM and using the internet.  I have no internet in my apt and it’s pissing me off given my total information addiction. But I’ve been reading through my old german book and playing with some german dictionaries and I’m starting to loosen up. But god I’ve forgotten soooo much…. I really need to review more.

Oh I went to the festival at my apt on Sunday, throbbing foot and all. It was alright but I personally thought all the music sucked balls.  I mean tolerable but lame.  I got a bunch of  different food at the festival which was good and lots of Weissbier.   God this is rambling.  I’m done. Back to the Internet.!!!

Bon Voyage

I leave for the airport in 2 hours or so.  Then it’s off to Philly to catch a connecting flight to Munich.  Seeya all in September.   I’ll write a ton about what I’m up to in Germany this summer.

Spam, Spam, Spam

Why in the 9 hells does spam work? Seriously, do people really see adds for ‘cheap viagra’ in their mail box and decide, ” I gotta get me some of that.” ?  I get like 3 or 5 spam comment post notifications every day or two on this very same blog.  Do other bloggers really let that shit fly?  Do they just let anyone post without authenticating them?   What the fuck is the business model these people work under?  I mean being a spammer basically consists of being a thief stealing the bandwidth of others and hijacking unprotected computers to send out reams of messages into the ether so the cost of doing it is almost minimal, so I guess even one sale is a profit but….. Who the fuck buys this shit? I mean someone has to be paying the spammers in the first place and then someone has to buy this shit… What kind of fucking weasel do you need to be to spam people and what kind of simpleton do you need to buy into it?   Christ on a crutch… people just never cease to amaze me with how inept and retarded they can be.  I mean otherwise reasonable people become utter fucking morons when faced with a computer and mass communication.

Oh hot damn, I just got a post for cheap ‘cialis’ let me get my credit card…  fuckwits.

And the Red Wings fail.

I think I’m cursed.  Every team I’ve rooted for in the Stanley Cup playoffs has lost their series to be eliminated.  Buffalo, Vancouver, Penguins and the Redwings are now down by 3 with 11 minutes left in the 3rd period.   Sigh. I guess I’m gonna be rooting for Ottowa in the playoffs since I just cannot root for the ducks.  Seriously… a hockey team from Anaheim?  blow me.

I am strange.

I cannot put my left shoe on before my right shoe.  I’ve tried.  It freaks me out so bad I take my left shoe off then put the right one on before I put the left back on.  I don’t know why but I always put the right shoe on first.  Always.  At least I think I do. I can’t think of a single instance of putting the left one on first.   I’m pretty certain I’m willing to go all Gulliver’s Travels about this point.

RIGHT SHOE FIRST! DEATH TO THE LEFT SHOE FIRST HEATHEN DOGS!

Crazy Golf

Today Amanda and I went to the mall by my grandmother’s house. Pittsburgh Mills.   There’s an indoor mini golf place inside the mall.  It’s all black lights and glowing shit on the walls and holes.  None of the holes were very hard and we were done fast but I got like 33 pics with my camera phone.  That means the pics aren’t that great but you’ll get the idea.

So here they are…CRAAAAZY GOLF!

skype

I now have a skype account. I do not have any extra features since I don’t travel overseas enough to justify it and my cell phone works just fine in almost all cases. If you want to speak to me on skype this summer let me know and I’ll give you my contact info. Maybe I could just post my user name but I’m a bit more paranoid than that. You’ll need a computer and a microphone unless I shell out money for international skype which I may end up doing. It’s only like 3.9 cents to connect and 2.1 cents a minute, but…. meh… need a computer and internet for it to be a workable solution. soooo maybe not.

Edit: it’s only 20$ for a 3 month run of skype in and skype out which means I’d have a state side number that anyone with a phone could call me on and I could call anyone’s phones.  Depends on how and when I have net access.  Rawr.  <sardonic> Course who am I to think anyone actually wants to talk to me </sardonic>

3 simple steps to winning the war on drugs

1) Legalize everything besides crack and meth

2) Tax the substances like we do alcohol and cigarettes. Use these tax monies as well as like half the war on drug budget to pay for government rehab and safe drug use centers. Also make sure all substances sold are properly regulated to be pure i.e. no strychnine in your pot, this is to prevent major poisoning.
3)  Educate people about the effects of drugs on the body without the propaganda angle we have today.  Teach people the problems and risks as we do with alcohol or smoking.

It’s obvious there is a demand for drugs in this country.  It’s equally obvious the war on drugs just exacerbates the problem and results in massive jail overcrowding, wasted money on enforcement and people not receiving proper treatment if they need/want rehab.  Further by legalizing the production of the drugs we create new viable economic pathways and help grow markets that employ people legitimately.  This will also create additional money in income taxes for the government.  Seriously, anyone who tells me “god says drugs are bad” or that we fight the war on drugs for compassionate reasons deserves to be smacked.  The first due to the idiocy of basing any public policy on god and the  second  because massive prison population, endangering peoples lives by making a rather victimless crime illegal and forcing people to associate with dangerous criminal elements to acquire their supply is not compassionate.  It’s in fact so far beyond the realm of harsh and domineering it’s stupid.

I’ll say it simply for the gallery.  The war on drug was an excuse to persecute hippies based on unfounded public fears that white women would be raped by minorities using drugs.  While that ignores several minor subplots that’s the gist of it.   Moralists wanted to ban  drugs because they thought minorities would rape white women or cause mayhem.  Nixon wanted a way to attack his political opponents who used a lot of drugs. Bing bang boom.  Maybe I missed an important detail in there someplace but that’s my understanding of the history of the situation.   You’ll occasionally hear someone spot off about how the troops were using too many drugs in ‘Nam but that falls flat since the military is already subjected to a different set of rules than the public so a public ban is in no way truly justified by the need to ban the substances in the military.   RAWR prove me wrong.!

The people are made out of turkey!!!
