I’ve arrived in california. In fact I’ve been arrived since last friday… thursday? something like that ;p Think thursday actually. Was living in a hotel and just moved into my summer apartment on Sunday. I started working at NVIDIA for the summer today. Suffered through employee orientation and started to meet the people I’ll be working with. That’s pretty much all I’ll say about that since I don’t even want to touch the issue of what I can and can’t say. The government will put your ass in jail but a corp’ll just sue you into oblivion ;p I kid… but I can’t discuss anything I’m doing or the people I’m working with in any detail so why bother even pussy footing around it. I’ll just say everyone I’ve met has seemed pretty nice so far and it turns out I’m technically an hourly employee so after I clear it with my manager I can probably get time and half for 2 hours a day … means 10 hour days but I’ll hopefully be having fun doing it. And it’s not mandatory … I just need to have approval to work the overtime and i’ll get lots of extra money.
On a secondary note about NVIDIA… I received my consolation prize for applying to the NVIDIA Fellowship today as well….. A shiney new 9800 GX2. dual gpu on one board with 1gig of video memory. It is the new top of the line flagship card. Holy shit my current employer fucking rules. Shame I can’t pop that sucker in and take it for a spin till September. But damn… that was uber generous of them. I was expected a T-shirt or a tote bag when they sent us all the email notification of a gift just for applying.
Now I sleep so I can get to work tomorrow and start in on being a non slacking productive member of society.
